Pademangan Health Center Launches Exclusive Homecare Innovation in Environmental Health

Pademangan Sub-district Health Center in North Jakarta introduces a new innovation in Homecare services: Exclusive Environmental Health (Healing).

More comprehensive health approach for the elderly

This aims to improve environmental health for the elderly, whether healthy or ill.

Pademangan Sub-district Health Center Head, Octoviana Carolina said, this innovation was introduced in response to the increasing number of elderly residents in Pademangan District, totaling 16,884 people or 9.9 percent of the total population, as well as to prevent environmental-based diseases such as acute respiratory infections (ARI) and diarrhea.

"The need for a more comprehensive health approach for the elderly. Not only focusing on degenerative diseases but also on environmental factors that affect their quality of life," she expressed, Monday (10/20).

She explained, the aim of this innovation is to improve residents' health and prevent the spread of diseases caused by the environment. One of the methods is through door-to-door surveys with health teams to identify risk factors.

"We directly check the homes of the elderly to ensure they live in a more proper environment that supports health. We involve cross-sector, academics, communities, and the private sector," she explained.

She hoped that this could improve the health of the community, especially the elderly, and make them active and exemplary figures for those around them.

"We also hold elderly group meetings and outreach to help them be healthier, empowered, and happy," she added.

Pademangan Sub-district Health Center's Traditional Medicine Program Head, Nabila Shafira Aisyah added, the Elderly Empowerment and Happiness Group Meeting (Tamasya), and the Optimization of Interactive Counseling (Topi) are sub-innovations of Healing aimed at providing enjoyable and beneficial skill experiences for the elderly.

"This has been held from April to September 2025 in RW 10 and 12, Pademangan Timur Urban Village, involving health cadres and the elderly group," she explained.

Besides counseling, the elderly are also given hands-on practice such as planting family medicinal plants that can be utilized in daily life. Hopefully, this activity could provide a fun and beneficial skill experience.

"Besides focusing on medical illnesses, this also includes environmental health determinants. We want them (the elderly) to always be healthy, productive, and happy," he stated.
